What was the highlight of Hotel Iidaya
pleasant and interesting
the location just great for travellers who need to commute via trains to the different parts of Japan. walkable within 3 mins from the train station and plenty of eateries and souvenir shops around. we were fortunate to find the hotel quickly with the help of someone. the famous Matsumoto castle is within walking distance from the hotel and walking along the roads were pleasant with so much of vibrant activities.
as with most encounters, language is a great disadvantage when travelling in Japan especially the smaller towns. except for hotel staff, most eateries staff do not even speak a basic level of English. hope this will change with more tourists going to Japan.

It’s a good option if you don’t need anything luxurious
The location, it’s very close to Matsumoto Station

You get what you pay for.
Super cheap, close to the station. Forgot something in the room and then when I came later to ask about it they immediately knew and had it ready for me. I booked smoking room even though I don't smoke because it was the last room available... but the room had an air freshener that made it bearable. The body soap smelled really nice.
The bed was really hard and uncomfortable. The pillows were bad too. I set the room to not disturb. Usually they leave you fresh towels in a bag outside the room. There was only one set of new towels, but we were two guests. The writing on the Air Con panel was all gone so I didn't know which way to turn it.
